A Grand Drive over the Pacific

The classic cliche of ‘it’s the journey, not the destination’ is a tricky one.

I feel like anyone who has ever sat on a 16 hour plane ride, to land in a tropical paradise - has never said these words.

However, there’s a part of Australia that is so beautiful, and so picturesque, that this statement actually applies - where rolling green farms meet the ocean and the natural scenery is part of the attraction to visit.

The South Coast.

So, it only made sense to introduce the Grand Pacific Drive Tour into our brochure this year.

Where it really is about the journey.

A tour within a tour

For those who don’t know, the Grand Pacific Drive is a 140 kilometre coastal drive, that travels through rainforests, charming coastal cities and townships, natural wonders - and of course and endless supply of stunning beaches.

The main attraction is the world famous Sea Cliff Bridge, which snakes its way around the coastline over the waters of the pacific.

It goes through Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and the Shoalhaven. Each and every place has unique experiences to offer, from adventure activities to delicious food and wine and historical discoveries.

The scenery does it for us

There is just so much natural beauty in this region. On the Sea Cliff Bridge, you can actually see (if you’re lucky) whales, dolphins and manta rays from the bridgewalk. While the cliffs are home to majestic nesting eagles.

The view from the top of the lookout in absolutely magnificent, in both directions.

What makes it really special, is there is so much to see in a short distance. You will not be tempted to look at your phone, or read a book - because there is so much to take in just out the window.

Kick back and relax

Because there are so many sensational things to see, we don’t need to pack the day with activities.

So, the Grand Pacific Drive is one of our more leisurely tours, with a bit more down time in the itinerary.

The scenery itself is an activity, so sitting down with a wine and taking it all in is generally what most people like to do.

So we accommodate for that, with plenty of free time for you to enjoy. And as always our itinerary is flexible. So if there’s something you want to skip - or add on - we can make arrangements!

We tick the boxes

There is so much to do in this part of the world, but we are pretty excited about the activities we chose for the itinerary.

Our Grand Pacific Drive Tour includes a visit to the Nan Tien Temple, the largest Buddhist Temple in the Southern Hemisphere. I’ve had people tell me witnessing the culture, combined the the spiritual experience, has been life changing.

You’ll also stop at the Port Kembla Steelworks, the Kiamia Lighthouse (and of course, the blowhole.) But my personal favourite is the Shoalhaven River Cruise.

It is a two hours cruise, including morning tea and commentary from the skipper, where you can really take in the breathtaking scenery - and the amazing variation of the landscape, from bushland, to agriculture to industry. You’ll see it all.
